vengeance, finally.. and some dead leaves

finally completed park chon-wook's vengeance trilogy with sympathy for mr. vengeance. not sure how it happened, but i watch it in reverse order. think it had to do with catching sympathy for lady vengeance shortly after it came out. then we went looking for oldboy & i only finally remembered about sympathy for mr. vengeance when rog the doge told me that park chon-wook was doing a masterclass at his school last week. lucky.

i dont know if this watching it in reverse order has made like like sympathy for mr. vengeance the least. not that it was a bad film, but just not as good as the other ones, imho. hmm.. still a pretty good film though & i recommend watching the vengeance trilogy (in the right order), unless you are really adverse to bloody scenes. i think i liked that there wasnt really a clear divide between what was right & wrong or good & evil. it was all a blur really.. not sure who to side with or who to sympathise with.. gray, just gray. no black & white.

rog the dodge was also researching for his graduation animation & had something from the jm collection.. so i got introduced to and managed to get my hands on a copy of dead leaves. amazing, amazing stuff. a bit disappointed cause i thought it was a full length feature, but it was only about less an hour long, leaving me wanting more. more, i say! more of this fast paced, action packed, chop chop stuff. yes. it reminded me a bit of viewtiful joe. henshin a-go-go baby! realised that it was directed by the same guy that did FLCL, hence the same cyborg-esque sort of characters. love it. i think this was one of my favourite scenes from dead leaves:

restless retro & a sleeping pandy ♡
